Chernigov region located in the northern part of Ukraine, on the territory of the region the state border between Ukraine, Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus lies, the region ranked as third among the regions of Ukraine by the territory extension. The economy of Chernigov region has dominated enterprises of machine building and chemical industries, enterprises of woodworking and light industry are also important part of region economy. The territory of the Chernigov region is located within the Dnieper-Donetsk oil and gas field. There are 200 monuments of world importance in Chernihiv region, historical and architectural monuments presented by buildings of XI-XIX centuries, among them the Saviour Cathedral of Chernihiv, Friday Church, numerous palatial architectural structures. The national list of historic settlements include 14 urban settlements of the Chernihiv region.
